The latest Orbi firmware update v2.5.1.8 has a lot of problems to install. Especially with the RBR50, tri-band Wi-Fi router. Many of the customers have queries that every time they install this firmware version into Orbi router, all the satellite connections get disconnected. It is very difficult to install even after rebooting the router. The task to perform is to factory reset the RBS or RBR and begin from scratch. Go to the setup wizard and skip joining the RBS during the setup wizard. After finishing the setup process, add the RBS or RBR one by one at a time. The distance between the router and the satellite should be 30 feet. Do not place it apart from the hurdles, like a concrete wall, table, chairs, wooden divider, etc.
Another solution which I would like to tell you is that manually update the firmware 2.5.1.8. Satellite one by one. When the satellite will be showing the latest firmware version as 2.5.1.8. Instantly reset your satellite to the factory reset. Keep the entire system at the position of rest for a minimum of 12 hours. There is a statement in the document of Netgear as well that always update the satellite first before updating the router. So, it is very important to know that before updating the firmware of the router, update the firmware of satellite first.
